BCA along with sponsors Air New Zealand, Cook Islands Printing Services, Westpac Bank, Cook Islands Tourism,  Brancott Estate Wines/CITC Liquor, Pacific Resort Hotels & the Barton Family take great pleasure in announcing its selection to participate in the VOLTA Show, New York City, March 3-6, 2011. The VOLTA Show, is a prestigious world art fair of American and International Contemporary Art Galleries. Just 85 Galleries are invited to exhibit with visitor numbers in excess of 10,000. The VOLTA show is attached to the world renowned ARMORY Show that attracts the very best global art dealers each year.

The VOLTA show specializes in single artist projects and for the 2011 edition; BCA will present Andy Leleisi’uao's Ufological City.

Leleisi’uao’s new work will reflect a brand new ‘creaturescape’ of a trademark ufological society, past and recent iconography fusing a powerful & innovative narrative.  Andy’s work speaks on a wide level. His concerns with familiar sociological issues (unlimited consumerism, environmental irresponsibility and social inequity) seemingly plucked right out of today’s headlines. However, rather than lament the obvious, Leleisi’uao’s creatures prove oddly alluring and a subliminal sense of optimism permeates the work.

In 2010 Andy was the recipient of the prestigious McCahon Residency (Auckland/NZ) and the Taipei Village Artist in Residence (Taiwan). Andy also exhibited in New York in 2009 with Kips Gallery (Chelsea) and 2010 with the BCA Group show MANUIA (American Indian Community House, 11 Broadway). In 2010, Leleisi’uao also exhibited with the Centre of Contemporary Art (Christchurch), presenting a large scale installation ‘Wandering through Pandemonium Quiet’. In 2009, a suite of Leleisi'uao's work was purchased by the patrons of the Auckland Art Gallery.
